Recently, technology company Continental and Aurora Innovation announced an exclusive partnership to create the first generation of commercially scalable Aurora hardware and software integrated system—Aurora Driver. The two parties will jointly design, develop, verify, and deliver a scalable Expand the autonomous driving system and provide related services. The system will be used by transportation companies and commercial fleet operators in various regions of the United States, helping to reduce costs and achieve widespread adoption. Continental will make full use of its decades of experience in system development to provide safer and more reliable autonomous driving solutions, realize the industrialization of Aurora Driver, and provide a complete set of hardware equipment and a new backup system. In rare cases, should the primary autonomous driving system fail, the backup system will ensure that the driverless truck can continue its mission until it reaches a safe location. In addition, Continental will also provide full lifecycle management for the self-driving hardware kit it provides to Aurora Driver, covering the entire process from product production to end-of-production. Aurora Horizon, a subscription-based trucking service powered by Aurora Driver, is expected to be released in 2024, with the first batch of products to begin mass production in 2027.
